HB 330 Updates

HB 330 (Rep. Garcia, Sen. Jaramillo, Rep. J Martinez) will create a Land Grant-Merced Fund and an Acequia Infrastructure fund by earmarking 2.2 percent of the severance tax bond capacity to fund qualifying Land Grant-Merced and Acequia infrastructure projects. 

The scheduled hearing for HB 330 (García, Jaramillo, Martínez) has changed from Monday, March 3, 2025. It is anticipated that it will be heard on Wednesday, March 5, 2025 in the House Taxation and Revenue Committee (HTRC). Hearing information will be shared as it becomes available. SB 374 Updates

SB 374 (Sen. Jaramillo, Sen. Campos, Sen. Gonzales) is the mirror bill to HB 330 which aims to create a Land Grant-Merced Fund and an Acequia Infrastructure funding.

SB 374 is anticipated to be heard in the Senate Indian, Rural & Cultural Affairs Committee Thursday, March 6, 2025. You may see live updates on the SIRC Committee page by CLICKING HERE.

SB 21 Updates

SB 21 and SB 22 (Wirth, Ortez, Gonzales). These bills were combined into one bill. The purpose of the combined bill SB 21 is to ensure that New Mexico has tools to protect clean water. The bills would enable the New Mexico Environment Department to administer surface water permitting by taking over those responsibilities now covered by the EPA through the Clean Water Act.

SB 21 will be heard in the House Agriculture, Acequias, and Water Committee TOMORROW at 9am
