Join the New Mexico Acequia Association for a hands-on workshop transforming fallow land into a thriving garden. Together, we’ll design and break ground on a new garden space while learning practical techniques to reduce weeds, address erosion on sloped land, and improve soil health.
This hands-on workshop will cover:
Soil Preparation: Testing soil composition, amending soils, preparing stale seedbeds, and solarizing (cover the soil) to manage Kochia and other annual weeds.
Planting on Sloped Land: How to plant on contour and finding contours using an A-frame level. Reducing soil erosion and improving water retention utilizing berms, swales, and borders.
