Become a Member of the NMAA

The New Mexico Acequia Association (NMAA) works to protect water and our acequias, grow healthy food for our families and communities, and to honor our cultural heritage. As a statewide, membership based organization of parciantes, acequias, regional associations, and other supporters - we have witnessed the strength in numbers when we come together across the state in defense of our water, communities, and cultural traditions. El Agua es Vida, Water is Life.  Your annual membership supports the work of the NMAA to advance our mission through community education, organizing and advocacy!

As a member, you will receive our quarterly newsletter, Noticias de las Acequias, and invitations to our educational workshops, events, and annual Congreso de las Acequias. Most importantly, you will be a vital member of the movimiento de las acequias, with countless vecinos and compadres who are cultivating the land, caring for the water, and continuing our ways of life as land based people.

We offer individual memberships for Parciantes (irrigators with water rights) and Supporters (community members not affiliated with an acequia who want to contribute to our work!). We also encourage Acequias and Regional Acequia Associations to become NMAA members so that our staff can provide services, and so that we can document the growing power of our movement. Acequia youth (25 years old and younger) can become members for FREE!
